Osteoarthritis Natural Remedies
Talk to your doctor before starting any new exercise program.
Recommendations
People with arthritis should follow the following recommendations:
1. Stay slim, since overweight requires more effort and pressure on joints.
2. Drink at least eight glasses of water a day.
3. Eat fish such as sardines, salmon and trout, as they have fatty acids like Omega 3 which help counteract the inflammation characteristic of arthritis.
4. Eat a daily bowl of quinoa, as it has cleansing and anti-inflammatory properties that relieve arthritis.
5. Avoid eating the following vegetables: peppers, eggplants, beans, tomatoes and white potatoes because they contain solamina that interferes with muscle enzymes and causes pain.
6. Avoid red meat, pork, milk and dairy products, coffee, paprika, salt, snuff, alcohol and anything containing sugar.
7. The person suffering from arthritis should be active, since inactivity weakens muscles which support the joints and increases the stiffness and arthritic pain. Hence the importance of exercises like the following:
• Careful stretching exercises to tone the muscles used for warming up and other exercises can be performed in bed or in a bathtub full of warm water.
• Resistance exercises (wrist weights, ankle weights or other) which strengthen the muscles to compensate the damage to the joints.
• Aerobic exercises like walking and swimming are not recommended activities as they put stress on joints. You need your doctor's approval before starting any exercise program and once approved the program should start slowly and build repetitions gradually. As soon feel pain, stop and rest.
